Development

The RAIDER Targetry Mobile Moving Target System (MMTS) was developed in collaboration with defence experts to meet the demands of Australian soldiers during live-fire training scenarios, that include complex terrain and a wide variety of natures. The core technology of the MMTS was proudly conceived and advanced at the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI), Deakin University, in Victoria, Australia.

Active Range Exercise

RAIDER has participated in live fire exercises across multiple Australian ranges and been engaged from distances of 500 to 2,500m + using direct fire weapons (7.62mm, 12.7mm, 25mm, 30mm), 70mm rocket, Javelin FGM-148 missile, tank 120mm main armament, and AGM-114M Hellfire Captive Air Training Missile (CATM).

Weapons platforms include ASLAV, M113, M1A1 Abrams Tank, and ARH Tiger Helicopter.

Breaking New Ground

Since 2016, RAIDER has enabled a number of Australian and/or world Firsts in training, including:

  • First engagement of a Javelin missile at moving target
  • First dual simultaneous engagement of common moving target with Javelin missiles
  • First moving live-fire target on ridgeline
  • First Australian relocatable AFV moving target system
  • First coordination of multiple moving targets
  • First time an ARH Tiger helicopter has engaged a moving target in training (Hydra 70mm Rocket)
  • First time an AH-64 Apache helicopter has engaged a moving 3D target (AGM-114 Hellfire Missile)

Specification

The RAIDER Targetry Mobile Moving Target System (MMTS) is your turn-key solution to enhance any live-fire training exercise. The RAIDER Targetry MMTS down-range system comprises three primary components: tractor, target trailer and target surface payload. The complete system is semi-autonomous, controlled wirelessly via the Ground Control Station (GCS) to create, save, recall and execute target movement, as well as control all of the MMTS advanced features (such as GHOD active thermal IR targets). Make contact today to learn more about how the RAIDER Targetry MMTS can expand your training options, maximise training outcomes, and allow you to exercise the full capability of your technologies.
